Former students of Cameroon College of Arts, Science and Technology (CCAST) Bambili, from the 1998–2000 batch, have reaffirmed their commitment to unity, mutual support and giving back to their alma mater during the 7th Annual General Assembly (AGM) of the CCAST Bambili Ex-Students Association (CCASTBEXSA). The event, held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, in Limbe, brought together members from various chapters across Cameroon to review achievements, assess challenges and chart a new course for the future.
Presiding over the assembly, the National President General of the association, Barrister Tamukong Julius Maoboh, praised members for their unwavering commitment and the spirit of solidarity that has sustained the association over the past seven years. He particularly acknowledged the Bamenda Branch for successfully hosting the previous AGM and expressed gratitude to the South West Branch and several benefactors whose generous financial contributions made this year's event a success.
Held under the association's motto, "We are stronger together," the AGM featured presentations of chapter reports highlighting activities carried out throughout the year, financial records, achievements and challenges. Discussions also focused on strengthening the association and planning future initiatives aimed at improving members' welfare and supporting the institution that nurtured them.
Addressing journalists after the meeting, Barrister Tamukong said the association was founded with the vision of reconnecting classmates who studied at CCAST Bambili between 1998 and 2000 while creating opportunities for members to uplift one another.
He explained that over the years, many members have secured employment, received appointments and promotions, or established businesses with the support of fellow alumni and financial assistance from the association. According to him, empowering members remains the foundation upon which the association can effectively contribute to the development of its alma mater.
Among the association's most significant achievements is the refurbishment and equipping of the geology laboratory at CCAST Bambili at a cost of over three million FCFA. The project has significantly improved learning conditions for students, reflecting the association's commitment to giving back to the institution that shaped its members.
Despite the progress recorded, the President General admitted that the association continues to face challenges, particularly in reconnecting former classmates scattered across the country and beyond. He noted that while the association started with only seven members, it has now grown to 156, thanks to persistent efforts to reach out to former students, many of whom initially struggled with personal or economic difficulties that discouraged them from participating.
Looking ahead, Tamukong revealed that the association's next major project will focus on supporting academically gifted but underprivileged students, enabling them to pursue higher education despite financial constraints. He also commended the current Principal of CCAST Bambili for his leadership and pledged the association's continued support in promoting discipline and academic excellence among students.
The AGM also celebrated notable milestones achieved by members, including the award of doctoral degrees to two alumni and the election of His Royal Highness Fon Ndofoa Zofoa III as Secretary General of the North West Regional Assembly. Members were encouraged to celebrate one another's successes as collective achievements for the association.
Speaking on the sidelines of the event, His Royal Highness Chief Fondem Fozao described the reunion as an emotional experience that rekindled memories of student life and inspired members to continue striving for excellence. He urged younger generations to work hard, noting that the 1998–2000 batch has produced professionals across diverse fields, including medicine, engineering, law and education.
As the Limbe gathering concluded, the symbolic AGM flame was officially handed over to the Yaoundé Chapter, which will host the 2027 Annual General Assembly and elections for a new National Executive, setting the stage for another chapter in the association's journey of unity, service and excellence.
