Militants of the Cameroon People's Democratic Movement (CPDM) Fako II Section took center stage during the celebration of the 54th Edition of the National Day in Muyuka, displaying remarkable patriotism, discipline and commitment to national unity in a ceremony marked by colour, cultural diversity and civic pride.
The May 20 celebration, held under the theme “National Unity, Backbone of Our Defense System, Bedrock of Cameroon’s Development,” brought together administrative authorities, defense and security forces, schools, cultural associations, political militants and the wider population in a grand demonstration of solidarity and peaceful coexistence.
Presiding over the event was the Divisional Officer (DO) for Muyuka Subdivision, Ngatchou Nzouami Sylvian, who officially assumed command of the subdivision in 2025 following a presidential decree. The celebration unfolded in an atmosphere of enthusiasm and patriotism as residents of the subdivision joined millions of Cameroonians nationwide in commemorating the historic reunification and unity of the nation.
The event began with the traditional military parade, which captivated spectators with its discipline, precision and coordination. Members of the defense and security forces marched in impressive formations, reflecting the preparedness and professionalism of Cameroon’s military apparatus. Their performance resonated strongly with the official theme of the celebration, emphasizing the crucial role of national unity in safeguarding peace and stability.
This was followed by the civilian march past, during which schools, professional groups, administrative services and community organizations showcased their organizational strength and patriotic spirit. However, among the numerous groups that participated, the CPDM Fako II Section stood out prominently for its massive turnout and energetic participation.
Clad in party colours and chanting messages of peace, unity and development, militants of the ruling party marched with confidence and enthusiasm, drawing admiration from spectators and dignitaries present at the ceremonial grounds. Their coordinated appearance and strong mobilization demonstrated the grassroots influence of the CPDM within the subdivision and underscored the party’s continued commitment to national integration and social cohesion.
Observers noted that the impressive participation of CPDM militants gave the celebration added political significance, particularly at a time when calls for peace, unity and reconstruction remain central to the development aspirations of the South-West Region. Through songs, slogans and organized formations, party supporters projected a message of resilience and solidarity, reaffirming their attachment to the ideals of national unity championed by the Head of State, Paul Biya.
Beyond the political mobilization, the ceremony also celebrated the rich cultural diversity of Muyuka Subdivision. Legalized cultural associations and traditional dance groups entertained the audience with captivating performances that reflected the customs and heritage of the different communities living in the area. The colourful displays added vibrancy to the occasion and reinforced the importance of cultural identity as a tool for nation-building and peaceful coexistence.
Administrative officials, traditional authorities and community leaders equally used the event as an opportunity to encourage citizens to continue promoting dialogue, tolerance and collaboration despite existing socio-economic and security challenges facing parts of the region.
In his address at the ceremony, the Divisional Officer praised the population for their impressive turnout and disciplined participation throughout the celebration. He commended the various groups that took part in the march past, particularly emphasizing the importance of collective responsibility in maintaining peace and stability within the subdivision.
Ngatchou Nzouami Sylvian stressed that national unity remains indispensable for sustainable development and urged citizens to continue embracing the values of solidarity, patriotism and mutual respect. He further called on youths to remain committed to constructive activities capable of contributing to the growth and progress of the nation.
The successful organization of the celebration in Muyuka was widely viewed as a reflection of the resilience and determination of the local population to uphold the ideals of peace and togetherness despite prevailing challenges. Spectators who thronged the ceremonial grounds applauded the smooth coordination of activities and the strong sense of community displayed throughout the event.
As marching bands filled the air with rhythmic melodies and cultural performances entertained the crowd, the people of Muyuka once again demonstrated their attachment to the principles of unity and national integration that define Cameroon’s National Day celebrations.
For the CPDM Fako II Section, the event served not only as a patriotic exercise but also as an opportunity to reaffirm its grassroots presence and commitment to mobilizing citizens around the ideals of peace, development and national cohesion. The remarkable participation of its militants left a lasting impression on spectators and reinforced the subdivision’s image as a community determined to build a stronger and united Cameroon.
