At inspection of 2026 competitive entrance into 6eme, technical education, Prof Nalova Lyonga instructs pupils must not be distracted

Secondary Education Minister, Prof Nalova Lyonga accompanied by the Secretary of State to the Minister of Secondary Education in charge of Teachers' Training, Dr Boniface Bayaola kick-started her tour of schools establishments where several pupils were sitting for the 2026 session of the competitive entrance examination into 6eme and 1st year of Technical Education in Cameroon at the Nsam Efoulan Government High School, GHS.
The Minister entered one of the classrooms briefly and for fear of distracting the pupils observed that, the atmosphere is not very conducive for the pupils who were writing and therefore instructed reporters to leave the classroom immediately.

The second lap of her trip to inspect the conduct of the entrance examination by class 6 pupils took her to Government High School Afanayoa under the Yaounde III subdivision of the Mfoundi Division in the Centre region where 183 pupils were writing. And at the 3rd stop, Prof Nalova Lyonga went and inspected 163 pupils who were seeking entrance into the Government Technical High School Afanayoa for the 2026/2027 school year. Here the Secondary Education boss could be seen to be very angry with what she observed on campus. The Minister said the school yard is so vast with more than enough teachers but asked why the principal could not construct even a decent canteen for the school.
"You cannot even arrange the frontage of your office or you want that the whole building should delapidate first?" Prof Nalova Lyonga questioned the Principal.
The Secondary Education boss instructed the Principal to use what he has to construct a decent canteen for the school.
In a chat with reporters, Dr Boniface Bayaola explained that "the organisation is good, but we have to harmonise with the basic education insofar as the candidates come from there. Some are not up to date, and it was necessary to be diligent, to receive them all in the classroom. Our teachers and headteachers have organised well. The children are well distributed, and we believe that by the end of the May 19, 2026 all the results will be published and that the best ones will be retained."
The Secretary of State to the Minister of Secondary Education in charge of Teachers' Training observed that "as was the case earlier, at the Nsam Efoulan High School, the real education secretary had not paid the fees in time. 40 students. It was necessary for them to write. That's what we're talking about."
He concluded that "for the 226.348 candidates in Cameroon, these are quite marginal cases. So we believe that the organisation is good and that the children will be with us in Secondary School."
A total number of about 226.348 candidates were expected to take these examinations nationwide with 141.075 candidates sitting in for the Competitive Entrance Examination into 6ème and 85.237 candidates for the Competitive Entrance Examination into 1st Year Technical Education.
