Senator Nfor Tabetando Ndiepnso George has died at the age of 75. The news of his demise broke out early Tuesday morning, April 21, 2026.
The departed traditional ruler of Bachuo-Ntai village, Manyu Division, South West region of Cameroon, was born on October 29, 1950. He is said to have grown up in a humble family where he obtained the qualities of discipline, resilience and focus.
His career began as a teacher, before he delved into the legal profession where he later emerged as a renowned Barrister at law, with a unique dynamism which set him apart. He was the head of the Equity Chambers law firm in Douala, established in 1975.
Tabetando became traditional ruler of Bachou Ntai village on January 20, 1990, a seat he occupied until his death Tuesday, April 21, 2026.
His reign is said to have brought unity, dignity, and remarkable development to the village, but not without controversy. He is remembered to have ensured the establishment of a Catholic Senior Seminary in Bachuo-Ntai, as well as facilitated the employment of many Bachou-Ntai (in particular), and Manyu natives in the famous Euroil company, amongst his other strides. The traditional ruler was one time President of the South West Chiefs Conference.
Tabetando, with his skills and capabilities, rose to the national scene, where he occupied the post of Vice President of Cameroon’s Upper House of Parliament, the Senate, on the ticket of the ruling Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement CPDM party, where he was a staunch loyalist all his days. Back in 2017, he was the president of the CPDM parliamentary group in the Senate.
“Today, the drums are silenced, the royal courtyard is heavy with mourning, and the land of Bachuo-Ntai weeps the departure of a great lion. He has joined the ancestors, where he shall continue to watch over his people”, a statement from his village community reads.
Senator Nfor Tabetando is considered to have left a legacy of unity, service, empowerment, and honourable leadership.
According to his people, “His passing is a great loss to Bachuo-Ntai, Manyu Division, and the nation at large.”
