The telecom giant, MTN Cameroon has used the second National Cybersecurity Days in Bafoussam, to raise awareness about online safety. Speaking at the occasion last week, ESG & Shared Value Manager at MTN Cameroon, Édouard Tamba said children are facing real dangers on the internet. Édouard Tamba reassured youths that, ‘‘MTN Cameroon is stepping up to protect them as every child deserves a safe internet. Every child deserves a safe and fun online experience,” said Édouard Tamba to hundreds of students at the Bafoussam City Hall.
The session highlighted the risks kids face online – from cyberbullying to harmful content – and shared practical tips to stay safe.
-MTN’s big push: ‘Help children be children’
Through its Digital Human Rights programme, MTN Cameroon launched the “Help Children Be Children” initiative. The goal is to turn children into online safety champions, encourage the use of reporting portals for harmful content, train teachers and law enforcement officers to protect kids better, and to foster real actions, for real impacts.

Students were urged to use Online Reporting Portal (https://mtn.cm/foundation/protectchildonline/): to report abusive content involving children.
The telecom giant has signed a series of partnerships with schools, authorities, and private actors to make the internet safer.
MTN emphasises that it is a shared responsibility. It stresses that online safety is everyone’s job – parents, teachers, authorities, and companies alike. “Report, protect, empower – that’s how we keep kids safe online”, Tamba said.
By shining a light on these dangers, MTN Cameroon is helping create a safer internet for children across the country.
